Why it matters

It's the variable every other indicator on this site tries to explain, confirm, or anticipate. Without this reference series, no other chart has context.

Build it yourself

This indicator isn't derived from a formula of its own — it's a raw input as-is, so there's nothing to "build" here: what matters is understanding where it comes from (the explanation above) and how later indicators combine it.

How it's calculated, step by step

  1. The project reads PriceUSD from Coin Metrics' free ("Community") API — a figure they already compute from several exchanges' order books; it isn't recalculated here.
  2. One value per day is stored in metrics_daily under the price_usd key.
  3. Every other indicator combines it with the project's own on-chain data (blocks, UTXOs) to produce its own derived metric.
Descriptive. Not a signal — the data the signals try to explain.
